Old Dominion University graduate Letitia "Tish" Lyons has been named a recipient of the National Association of Athletic Development Directors (NAADD) postgraduate scholarship.

Lyons, who graduated earlier this month with a degree in biology, will receive a $2,000 grant to be used toward post graduate studies. She plans to pursue a graduate degree in intercollegiate athletics administration, as well as sports medicine.

Lyons, who played for the ODU women's basketball team, is a two-time member of the CAA All-Academic squad, and recipient of the Arthur Ashe, Jr., National Sports Scholar award. Lyons served as the team captain and received the "Miss Defense" award each of the past two seasons.

The award winners will be recognized at NAADD's 14th annual convention, June 7-10 at the World Center Marriott Resort in Orlando, FL.

Lyons started 20 of 33 games and averaged 8.4 points and 3.2 rebounds per game for the Lady Monarchs who compiled a 24-9 record and won their 16th straight CAA Championship. She led the team in free throw percentage at .795.

Off the court Lyons was a minority mentor for underclassmen minorities and previously, she volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House and the Rock-n-Roll Half Marathon. She was also a Monarch Mentor for international students and a Relay for Life Volunteer along with participating in the Buddy Walk for downs syndrome children and Race for the Cure.
