WORKSHOP TO EXPLORE EFFECTS OF TRADITIONAL PARENTING TECHNIQUES

Dr. Bryan Post, founder of the Post Institute for Family-Centered Therapy, will discuss "Children and Fear: Exploring the Psychological Impact of Traditional Parenting Techniques on Children," at a free workshop Tuesday, March 13 at Old Dominion University.

Aimed at parents and the community at large, the workshop will be held from 7:30-9:30 p.m. in the Mills Godwin Building auditorium. It is sponsored by In Support of Children, ODU's Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice and the National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice.

Post, author of "For All Things A Season" and co-author of "The Forever Child" series, is an internationally recognized specialist in the treatment of trauma in children and families. An adopted child, Post has made it his primary work to speak to parents and professionals from a perspective of true-life examples based on his own life and the countless families he has successfully treated. Utilizing his insight and knowledge, Post has developed The Stress Model Theory and Family-Centered Regulatory Therapy as effective means for helping families reach dramatic change in short periods of time and move to a place of healing.
