ODU OFFERS FREE TICKETS TO ONFILM FESTIVAL CLOSING GALA

Old Dominion University students, employees and their friends can receive free tickets to the ONFilm Festival closing gala on Saturday, March 24. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis and will be distributed by Sherry Davis in the President's Office.

The gala, which will feature acclaimed actress Ellen Burstyn, will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 24 at Norfolk's Attucks Theatre.

Burstyn will be presented with the ONFilm Festival Award for Lifetime Achievement, honoring excellence in acting, writing or producing, and the evening will include a screening of "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore," a film for which she won an Academy Award. A reception and book signing will follow the film. The gala concludes the weeklong film festival.

Burstyn has appeared in more than 100 films and was nominated for Academy Awards for her work in "The Exorcist," "The Last Picture Show," "Resurrection" and "Requiem for a Dream." She hosted the 35th annual Tony Awards and the 49th annual Academy Awards, and has also received numerous Emmy, Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations.

The evening is black-tie optional. For more information about the festival visit http://www.odu.edu/ONFilmFest.
