SECOND ANNUAL CANDLELIGHT VIGIL IN REMEMBRANCE OF CHILD ABUSE VICTIMS IS TONIGHT

Old Dominion University's "In Support of Children" chapter will hold its second annual candlelight vigil in memory of all child abuse victims at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14.

Candles will be provided for the vigil, which is free and open to the public. It will be held next to the Batten Arts and Letters Building at 45th Street and Hampton Boulevard on the ODU campus.

According to Lucien Lombardo, professor of sociology and criminal justice and an organizer of the vigil, Hampton Roads leads the state in child abuse fatalities. Across the country, more than 1,000 children die each year as a result of child abuse.
