DISNEY IMAGINEERING EXEC TO SPEAK AT ODU ECONOMICS CLUB LUNCHEON TODAY
Benedict Schwegler Jr., vice president and chief scientist of Walt Disney Imagineering, Research & Development Inc., will be the guest speaker at the Old Dominion University Economics Club of Hampton Roads luncheon Friday, June 1.
Co-sponsored by Old Dominion's College of Business and Public Administration, the luncheon will begin at noon at the Norfolk Marriott Waterside Hotel. The cost is $30 for nonmembers. Due to limited space, reservations are required and may be made by calling 683-4058.
Schwegler implements technology to ensure that Disney theme parks are energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. He also designs 4D simulations and created the world's biggest wave-making machine, popularly known as Typhoon Lagoon, at Walt Disney World in Florida. Schwegler won the 2002 CERF/IIEC Henry L. Michel Award for Industry Advancement of Research, Design and Innovation.
