ODU TO SPONSOR GRADUATE JOB SEARCH WORKSHOP TODAY
The ODU Preparing Future Faculty (PFF) Initiative will sponsor an academic job search workshop on Friday, Feb. 9, in room 9024 of Batten Arts and
Letters Building. The program from noon to 3 p.m. is designed to help prepare graduate students for academic employment.
Elaine Justice, the associate professor of psychology who is chair of the campus' PFF Initiative steering committee, said all graduate students are invited to hear seven faculty members speak on topics ranging from establishing career goals to preparing for job interviews. Refreshments will be served.
The speakers and their topics will be: Debra Major, professor of psychology, "Identifying Positions that Fit;" Robert Wojtowicz, associate professor of art history, "Interpreting Job Ad Language;" Barbara Winstead, professor of psychology, "Updatting One's CV for Job Applications;" Sheri Reynolds, associate professor of English, "Writing a Cover Letter;" Andrew Gordon, professor of biology, "Overview of Evaluation Process;" Linda McGreevy, professor of art history, "The Interviewing Process;" and Bryan Porter, associate professor of psychology, "Giving a Job Talk."
The national PFF Initiative is sponsored by the Council of Graduate Schools and the Association of American Colleges and Universities.
