ODU TO HOST TIBETAN BUDDHIST LECTURE JAN. 26

Old Dominion University's Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies and the Ratnashri Sangha Circle will host the lecture "The Tibetan Buddhist Perspective on Consciousness," featuring Khenpo Tenzin Rimpoche, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, in the Chesapeake, Portsmouth and Virginia Beach rooms of Webb Center.

Rimpoche was born in Tibet in 1970 and entered the order of monks and nuns, also known as the sangha, at the age of 14. He has since studied at Tibetan Buddhist universities and meditation retreats.

Rimpoche, who has studied Ngondro and Chakrasamvara practices, was awarded the Buddhist rank of Khenpo in 1998. In 2001, he joined the Tibetan Meditation Center in Frederick, Md., and currently travels throughout the United States teaching Buddhist philosophy.
