NATIONAL GIRLS AND WOMEN IN SPORTS DAY IS JAN. 28

The Old Dominion University Lady Monarchs invite girls and their parents to celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Sunday, Jan. 28, when they host William and Mary for a conference basketball game at the Ted Constant Convocation Center. Immediately following the game, which tips off at 2 p.m., ODU will offer a free seminar to all interested fans on "Girls Sports and Careers."

The seminar will feature keynote speaker Sue Stahl, the former U.S. lacrosse coach and current ODU coach, along with Caroline Nichols and Barb Weinberg; Lynn Ridinger, assistant professor of exercise science, sport, physical education and recreation at ODU, speaking about women in the sports industry; Terry Zablocki, a certified athletic trainer discussing nutrition and injury prevention; and emcee Jan Trombly, U.S. team handball Olympian and fitness trainer.

In addition, those who attend will be able to ask questions of a panel of ODU female student-athletes.

Discount group tickets to the game are available for $5 by calling the Constant Center group sales office at 683-5000.
