FORMER WORLDCOM AUDITOR TO SPEAK AT ODU'S ECONOMICS CLUB
Cynthia Cooper, former internal auditor of WorldCom, will be the guest speaker for the Old Dominion University Economics Club of Hampton Roads luncheon Wednesday, Feb 7.
Co-sponsored by ODU's College of Business and Public Administration, the Economics Club luncheon begins at noon Wednesday, Feb. 7, at the Norfolk Marriott Waterside Hotel. The cost is $30 for nonmembers. Due to limited space, reservations are required and may be made by calling 683-4058.
Cooper is best known for her role in uncovering the corporate fraud at WorldCom, to date the largest corporate fraud in history. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Hall of Fame, was featured as one of 25 influential working mothers in the November 2004 issue of Working Mother, and received the 2003 Maria & Sidney E. Rolfe Award and the 2003 Accounting Exemplar Award. Cooper was also named the 2002 Person of the Year by Time magazine.
