RESERVATIONS DUE TODAY FOR 30TH ANNUAL HACE LUNCHEON

Robert L. Ash, associate vice president for research and economic development and noted expert on Mars, will be the guest speaker for the Hourly and Classified Employees Association's 30th annual luncheon Tuesday, May 9. It will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the River Rooms of Webb Center. The registration deadline is May 2.

Ash, an eminent scholar of aerospace engineering who has studied the red planet for nearly 30 years, will speak on "Prospects of Human Travel to Mars."

In the late 1970s, he and a colleague at Jet Propulsion Laboratory originated in situ resource utilization (including oxygen production) for round-trip Mars missions. It is currently considered to be NASA's baseline approach for future human travel to the planet.

The luncheon program will also include a talk by Kathy Williamson, employee relations manager, on plans for conducting HACE focus groups; the presentation of the HACE Rookie and Staff Member of the Year awards; and the installation of officers for the coming year.

The buffet will feature an entree choice of chicken cordon bleu or stuffed portobello mushroom. The cost for the luncheon only is $13. For those beginning or renewing their annual $5 HACE membership, the discounted cost is $16 for the luncheon and membership combined.

For reservation information call Lynda Shirk at 683-3131.
