GOV. KAINE VISITS CAMPUS

Gov. Tim Kaine visited campus Friday morning to address the Virginia Education Association Delegates Assembly and to meet with Old Dominion
University President Roseann Runte and John R. Broderick, ODU's vice president for institutional advancement and chief of staff.

Kaine spoke with area leaders before addressing the VEA session at the university's Ted Constant Convocation Center.

The Virginia Education Association's 119th annual Delegates Assembly is hosting more than 1,200 delegates from across the commonwealth as they study and vote on resolutions, new business items and the VEA budget.

The Virginia Education Association was established in 1863, and the Virginia Teachers Association was founded in 1887. In 1967, the VEA and the VTA merged to form the current association. The VEA's 56,000-plus members are teachers and education support personnel who belong to local education associations in Virginia's 134 school divisions, faculty and students at more than two dozen colleges, and VEA-retired members.
