CONSTANT CENTER RANKED AMONG TOP VENUES IN THE WORLD

The Ted Constant Convocation Center, the 8,600-seat multipurpose arena on the campus of Old Dominion University, has been named to Pollstar Magazine's 2005 Year-End Top 100 list of arenas worldwide for venue ticket sales.

The Constant Center, which is managed by Global Spectrum, is the highest-ranked arena under 10,000 seats on the list, according to the 2005 year-end issue of Pollstar, a trade publication that provides music business professionals with worldwide music industry news.

"This is a remarkable accomplishment for an arena of our size to be able to compete with some of the larger venues in the industry," said Global Spectrum Regional Vice President and Constant Center General Manager Doug Higgons. "As the highest-ranked facility in the world for an arena our size, we will certainly attract the attention of promoters, managers and agents, which will help us secure additional shows in the future."

Since opening in late 2002, the Constant Center has become one of the premier concert venues in Hampton Roads in both attendance and quality of performances.

"Our success is a testament to the tremendous support of the people who travel from Hampton Roads and beyond to attend events at the Constant Center," said Higgons. "As operators of this facility for Old Dominion University, we're excited about our results and hope to continue to lure additional acts to Hampton Roads."

During its third year of operation, Global Spectrum booked many sold-out events into the Constant Center, including Maroon 5, Green Day, Larry the Cable Guy, American Idols, Bruce Springsteen, Keith Urban and Fall Out Boy, making 2005 the most successful year for the arena so far.

Upcoming acts include Sheryl Crow, the Harlem Globetrotters, the "Taste of Chaos" tour, Clifford the Big Red Dog Live and Fall Out Boy.

The Constant Center, which is home to Old Dominion University Monarch and Lady Monarch basketball, also has been selected to host the first and second rounds of the Women's NCAA tournament in March.
