ODU JAZZ ENSEMBLE AND JAZZ CHOIR TO PERFORM TONIGHT

The Old Dominion University Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Choir, under the direction of John Toomey, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov 29 in Chandler Recital Hall in the Diehn Fine and Performing Arts Center.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will be the premiere performance for the Jazz Choir.

Toomey is associate professor of jazz studies and music technology. Prior to joining Old Dominion, he was keyboardist and music director for jazz legend Maynard Ferguson, with whom he recorded several compact discs. Toomey has traveled the globe to perform at such venues as the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland and the Berlin Jazz Festival. He was recently designated a University Professor in recognition of his excellence in teaching.
