WILSON SELECTED AS AN AMERICAN COUNCIL ON EDUCATION FELLOW

Old Dominion University Professor of Literature Charles E. Wilson has been named a 2005-06 American Council on Education (ACE) Fellow.

Wilson, acting associate dean for Graduate Studies, is one of 40 fellows selected this year. Wilson, who came to ODU in 1991, has held several duties in the English Department including associate professor, graduate program director and, most recently, chair of the department. He has been recognized several times for his teaching, including receiving the university's A. Rufus Tonelson Faculty Award.

Wilson received his bachelor's degree from West Georgia College, his master's from North Carolina State University and his doctorate from the University of Georgia.

As a fellow, during the next academic year Wilson will focus on an issue of concern to ODU and work with senior administrators as part of his fellowship duties. Also during the year, Wilson will attend three week-long seminars on higher education issues organized by ACE and engage in other activities to enhance his knowledge about higher education.

The ACE Fellows program, established in 1965, is designed to strengthen institutions and leadership in American higher education by identifying and preparing promising senior faculty and administrators.
