FINANCE EXPERT TO ADDRESS ECONOMICS CLUB OF HAMPTON ROADS APRIL 20
Charles M. Elson, director of the John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Business and Governance at the University of Delaware, will speak at the Economics Club of Hampton Roads luncheon Wednesday, April 20.
Co-sponsored by the Old Dominion University College of Business and Public Administration, the luncheon, scheduled for noon at the Sheraton Waterside Hotel in Norfolk, costs $30 for nonmembers. Due to limited space, reservations are required.
Elson was selected as one of the 100 most influential people in finance for the second consecutive year by Treasury Risk Management magazine. In 2002, he testified before the U.S. Senate on the role of the board of directors in the collapse of Enron Corp. His areas of expertise include corporations, securities regulation and corporate governance. Elson has written extensively on the subject of boards of directors for various scholarly and popular publications. A former professor of law at Stetson University College of Law, he received his juris doctorate from the University of Virginia and his bachelor's degree from Harvard University.
Elson has served on several corporate boards of directors, including the National Association of Corporate Directors' commissions on director compensation and director professionalism, and he is currently the vice chairman of the American Bar Association business law section's committee on corporate governance.
