ODU STUDENTS ATTEND INTERNATIONAL ED. DAY IN RICHMOND
Approximately 20 Old Dominion University students will participate in events in Richmond Monday, Nov. 15, as part of "International Education Week" through Friday in the Commonwealth of Virginia, as announced by Gov. Mark Warner. The students will be present in Richmond as the governor reads a proclamation honoring the second annual "Governor's International Education Day" Monday.
"Governor's International Education Day" is sponsored by The Virginia Council for International Education (VaCIE) and supported by members of the international education community, including as Trawick International and Abroad China. This year's focus will be "Virginia and China: Educational Links and Prospects for the Future."
Steve Johnson, ODU study abroad director, is treasurer for VaCIE and manages the fiscal side of the event, and John Heyl, executive director of international programs, managed the GIED essay contest and transportation from Hampton Roads for five institutions and approximately 60-65 students.
The week coincides with ODU's India Forum Nov. 18-20, a symposium on education and culture in the United States and India.
