BRASS CHOIR CONCERT IS NOV. 22

The Old Dominion University Brass Choir, under the direction of William S. Bartolotta, will present a concert of music for brass and percussion instruments at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22, in the Chandler Recital Hall of the Diehn Fine and Performing Arts Center.

The concert, which is free and open to the public, will include "Pia Memoria: Requiem" by Knut Nystedt and Concerto for Timpani with Brass and Percussion by Michael Colgrass.

"Pia Memoria" is a five-movement work composed for a memorial concert in honor of the Norwegian ice skater Sonja Henie. Composed in 1971, its movements are interspersed with aleatoric segments. The timpani concerto will feature Nick Bartolotta, a senior majoring in percussion performance at ODU, as soloist. Also on the concert will be works by Rimsky-Korsakov, Debussy, and Scott Joplin.
