SECRETARY GENERAL OF FICCI TO ADDRESS ECONOMICS CLUB NOV. 19
Amit Mitra, secretary general of The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), will speak at the Economics Club of Hampton Roads luncheon Friday, Nov. 19.
Co-sponsored by Old Dominion University's College of Business and Public Administration, the luncheon, scheduled for noon at ODU's Ted Constant Convocation Center, costs $30 for nonmembers. Due to limited space, reservations are required.
A member of the India China Eminent Persons Group, Mitra received the prestigious Sears-Roebuck Foundation Award for Distinguished Teaching in 1990. He earned his doctoral degree in economics from Duke University and has worked on several postdoctoral research projects as a senior consultant.
Mitra serves on several boards, including the Steel Authority of India Ltd., the largest steel manufacturer of India, and GAIL Ltd., India's largest gas infrastructure company. He also sits on the advisory boards of The India Fund of The Unit Trust of India and the Central Listing Authority, which was established by the Securities and Exchange Board of India. Mitra is a member of the advisory committee to Union Commerce Minister of India on International Trade.
