'LOVE YOUR BODY DAY' IS OCT. 20

"Love Your Body Day," an effort begun by the National Organization of Women in 1998 to fight back against the negative images of women created in Hollywood and the advertising, fashion, cosmetics, diet, alcohol and tobacco industries, will be observed on Wednesday, Oct. 20.

The following activities will be held:

"TALK BACK WALL: SPEAK OUT"
9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Webb University Center, South Mall Stage
Read what others have written about how media images influence them or write your own reactions to the advertisements you are viewing.

"CROSS-CULTURAL BODIES"
12-1 p.m., Webb Center River Rooms
Examine the changing shape of women in this visual program of cross-cultural bodies then and now and learn how modernization and globalization contributes to these body shifts.

"CHALLENGING HEALTH ISSUES FACING WOMEN"
3-4 p.m., Webb Center River Rooms
Join us for a look at chronic disease and cancer prevention, nutrition and exercise recommendations, and healthy and safe alcohol consumption.

The activities are sponsored by counseling services, student health and The Women's Center. More information is available by calling 683-4109.
