HARVARD PHYSICS PROFESSOR TO SPEAK AT DEAN'S LECTURE SERIES OCT. 19-20
John Huth, chair and professor of physics at Harvard University will speak as part of the College of Sciences Dean's Lecture Series at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19 in the atrium of the Oceanography and Physics Building and and Wednesday, Oct. 20 in room 102 of the Mills Godwin Jr. Building. Refreshments will be served beginning at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the MGB lobby.
His talk on "The Wisdom of the Inward Parts: Science at the Frontiers of Scale" deals with the progressive discoveries in the fields of physics and astronomy that have improved our understanding of the largest and smallest structures within the universe while leaving fundamental puzzles unsolved.
Huth's research interests include the experimental origins of electroweak symmetry breaking and tests of conjectured solutions to the gauge hierarchy problem. He received his bachelor's degree from Princeton University and doctorate from University of California Berkeley.
