HACE SENDS NEARLY 60 SCHOOL SUPPLY KITS TO OPERATION IRAQI CHILDREN

The Hourly and Classified Employees Association (HACE) collected 59 complete kits for Operation Iraqi Children and a total of $340 during the school supply drive they conducted from Aug.1-Sept. 30. Operation Iraqi Children was launched by actor Gary Sinise and Lauren Hillenbrand, author of "Seabiscuit: An American Legend" in March after witnessing the deplorable conditions in Iraqi schools..

Complete kits included a back pack with blunt end scissors, pencils, colored pencils, large erasers, small pencil sharpeners, notebook paper, composition notebooks, folders and zippered pencil bags. The monetary donations helped HACE cover the cost of shipping of the kits to the organization's warehouse in Kansas City. The organization will then send the supplies to U.S. military personnel to be distributed.
