WOMEN'S CENTER DISCUSSES ROLE OF BARBIE IN AMERICAN CULTURE SEPT. 16

The Old Dominion University Women's Center will host the lecture "Barbie: Empowerment or Exploitation, You Decide," from 12:30-1:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16 in the Webb Center Cape Charles Room.

Wendy Creekmore, Women's Center graduate assistant in the humanities program will discuss whether the doll has influenced young women to conform to a narrow definition of beauty or has empowered them. She will also discuss Barbie's role in American Culture. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 683-4109.
