WOMEN'S CENTER BRINGS NATIONAL ORGANIZATION TO CAMPUS FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS WEEK
This fall's Sexual Assault Awareness Week, Oct. 25-29, will feature two new programs by John Foubert, president of The National Organization of Men's Outreach for Rape Education (NO MORE). Rebecca Fogerty, assistant director of the Women's Center at Old Dominion University, is bringing the group to campus via a Virginia Department of Health grant she received to implement the project "Men's Work: The Role of Men in Decreasing Campus Violence Against Women."
Foubert, who is also an assistant professor of higher education at the College of William and Mary, will lead the for-men-only workshop "What Men Can Do: How to Help an SA Survivor," and will give the keynote address, "Harnessing the Power of Our Collective Voice to End Rape" on Wednesday, Oct. 27.
Throughout the week, men can show their support for ending violence against women by wearing a white ribbon. The ribbons will be available in Counseling Services, the Women's Center and at information tables in Webb Center.
