ODU RECEIVES $64K IN SCHEV SCHOLARSHIPS
Old Dominion University will receive $64,000 in scholarship funds from the State Council on Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) to address teacher shortages in Virginia.
The funds, to be used for the Higher Education Teacher Assistance Program -- established by SCHEV to help address the teacher shortage by assisting undergraduate students enrolled in K-12 teacher preparation programs -- will be awarded via the ODU Teacher Education Services Office.
Eligible students must meet the following criteria: enrolled full time; undergraduate; demonstrate financial need; be a Virginia resident and; have a minimum 2.5 gpa. Awards are $2,000 for the academic year.
Preference is given to students enrolled in a teacher shortage content area identified by the Virginia Department of Education.
