ODU FIELD HOCKEY MATCH, CLINIC ARE OCT. 30

The nine-time NCAA champion Old Dominion University Lady Monarch field hockey team will host rival North Carolina, four-time NCAA champions, on Saturday, Oct. 30, at 1 p.m. at Foreman Field in the annual scholarship match.

This year's game will be televised nationally on the College Sports Television network (CSTV) on a tape delay basis. The contest is one of two regular-season field hockey matches televised by CSTV this season. Old Dominion holds a 30-25-2 lead in the long-time series with the Tar Heels, dating back to 1978. The Tar Heels defeated the Lady Monarchs in this season's first meeting in Chapel Hill 1-0.

The ODU field hockey team and head coach Beth Anders will host a post-game clinic for children in grades 4-8. No pre-registration is required and admission to the clinic will be free with the purchase of the game ticket. Participants are asked to bring their own sticks and no cleat shoes will be allowed on the turf.

Tickets for the match are $5 and include admission to the Lady Monarch basketball blue-white intra-squad game, beginning at 4 p.m. that day at the Constant Center. Proceeds from the field hockey match will be directed to the ODU Intercollegiate Foundation for field hockey scholarships. Tickets may be purchased in advance by calling the athletic ticket office at 683-5484, or at the gate on the day of the game.
