ODU COMMUNITY REMINDED TO CHECK WEB, OTHER OUTLETS FOR INFORMATION ON HURRICANE FRANCES

As Hurricane Frances moves toward the southeastern United States this weekend, Old Dominion University administrators are monitoring the situation and will make decisions on closings or delays, if necessary.

Although the storm, a powerful Category 3, is expected to make landfall in Florida sometime Friday evening or Saturday, forecasters are watching it closely for any change in direction.

Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to check the university's web site or the campus infoline at 683-3000 for information and updates on the storm's impact, if any, on the university.

Should a closing or delay become necessary, information can also be obtained on local television and radio stations, including WTKR-TV 3, WAVY-TV 10, WVEC-TV 13, WNIS-AM 790, WHRV-FM 89.5 and WHRO-FM 90.3.

Most closing or delays will be announced by 6 a.m.
