FRIENDS OF THE ODU LIBRARY 10TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION BEGINS SUNDAY WITH LECTURE
Friends of the Old Dominion University Library will celebrate its 10th anniversary throughout the upcoming year with a variety of events, including lectures by university professors, receptions, an exhibit featuring the history of the organization, and a campaign for life members.
Starting in September and running through April 2005, the library will host a lecture series featuring at least one researcher from each college of the university. The first lecture, at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, in room 151 of Perry Library, features Annette Finley-Croswhite. A professor in the College of Arts and Letters, she will speak about "Death on the Paris Metro: A Nonfiction Account of a 1937 Murder Mystery."
The exhibit, "Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Friends of the Old Dominion University Library," will be on display in the Perry Library lobby from Oct. 11 through November. It will include a scrapbook highlighting the Friends of the Library history, a list of founding members, and a list of annual events and other information regarding the Friends of the Old Dominion University Library. A digital exhibit can be found on the web at www.lib.odu.edu.
Life memberships support the library endowment, which funds numerous library initiatives and resources, and supports the future of the university libraries. The life membership campaign will run through July 2005.
The yearlong celebration will end in April 2005 with the 11th annual author dinner.
