JERRY ROBERTSON APPOINTED TO CITY'S ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BOARD

Jerry B. Robertson, Director of Applied Technology in the Frank Batten College of Engineering and Technology at Old Dominion University, has been appointed to a four-year term on the Norfolk Economic Development Authority Board of Directors by the City Council.

In his role, Robertson serves as director of the Technology Applications Center and director of Project Lead the Way's National Affiliate Program for the college. Robertson, who joined Old Dominion in 1981, has also served as the resident engineer for the college.

He has a master's degree in engineering mechanics and is a registered Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia, as well as a Certified Manufacturing Engineer by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.

The Norfolk Economic Development Authority generates employment and investment in the city by issuing Industrial Revenue Bonds, which provide financing opportunities for business growth in the city's manufacturing sector and Enterprise/Empowerment Zones. Over the last few years, the authority has made grants and loans to institutions whose primary purpose is to be a source for loans targeted at the city's small business and minority/women owned business community.
