-------------------VA. SYMPHONY LIVE AT ODU TONIGHT
The Virginia Symphony Orchestra will perform two outdoor concerts on the campus of Old Dominion University at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 2 and Wednesday, June 9. The concerts feature free admission and free parking and will be held on Kaufman Mall in front of Webb Center on the campus of Old Dominion University.
The June 2 concert, entitled "Hands Across the Sea," will be conducted by Virginia Symphony Orchestra Assistant Conductor Shizuo "Z" Kuwahara and celebrate the 60th Anniversary of D-Day with selections from Servicemen on Parade to Saving Private Ryan � Big Band to Symphonic Masterpieces.
The June 9 concert, entitled "A Little Night Music," will be conducted by guest Alexander Mickelthwate, Assistant Conductor for the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and offers a delightful assortment of symphonic music � perfect for a spring evening � from Beethoven's 5th Symphony to Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik to Handel's outdoor masterwork, the Music for the Royal Fireworks.
The concerts are free and open to the public. Those attending are reminded to bring lawn chairs, blankets and a picnic basket and enjoy the evening breeze and symphonic sounds. Parking is available in Lot 20 off 45th Street.
