PARSONS ENDOWED LECTURE IS MAY 12

Robert Evans, a clinical and organizational psychologist and the executive director of The Human Relations Service in Wellesley, Mass., will deliver The Parsons Foundation Early Childhood Lecture, titled "Family Matters: How Schools Can Cope with The Crisis in Childrearing," at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, in the Webb University Center North Cafeteria.

A former high school and pre-school teacher and a former child and family therapist, Evans has worked with schools and families for 30 years. He has consulted with nearly 1,000 schools and districts around the country, working with teachers, administrators, boards, and parents. He appears at many state, regional and national conferences of educators and has spoken to hundreds of parent audiences.

The 100 people in attendance at the lecture will receive a copy of Evans' latest book, "Family Matters: How Schools Can Cope with The Crisis in Childrearing" (February 2004, Jossey-Bass).

Evans' presentations are known for their lively wit and plain talk and he has focused on the challenge of leading change in schools and on changes in the family and in the home-school relationship. He also is the author of "The Human Side of School Change" (2000, Jossey-Bass).
