ODU CHEMISTRY PROFESSOR TO SPEAK AT CENTER FOR BIOELECTRICS MONDAY
Nancy Xu, an associate professor in the Old Dominion University chemistry and biochemistry department, will give a lecture at 3 p.m. Monday, May 3, at the Center for Bioelectrics in Norfolk. Her talk, "Real-Time Study of Accumulation Effects of Electric Fields Upon Membrane Transport in Single Living Cells," is free and open to the public. The Center for Bioelectrics is located in suite 5100 of the Norfolk Public Health Building, 830 Southampton Ave. Parking is free in a lot at the corner of Brambleton and Riverview avenues.
The Center for Bioelectrics is a research partnership of Old Dominion and Eastern Virginia Medical School. Its mission is to increase scientific knowledge and understanding of how electromagnetic fields and ionized gases interact with biological cells and to apply this knowledge to the development of medical diagnostics and therapeutics, and to environmental decontamination.
