WOMENGINEERS DAY TO FEATURE HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES, PRIZES

More than 20 hands-on engineering activities and over $500 in mall and book store gift certificates will highlight the fourth annual Old Dominion University Womengineers Day from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 6.

Sponsored by the Batten College of Engineering and Technology, Womengineers Day is aimed at the education, recruitment and retention of female engineering students from elementary school through college. Designed for students, professional engineers and teachers of future engineers, the free event will feature information sessions, networking opportunities, scholarship and financial aid information, and discussions on issues facing women in engineering.

Participants can take part in several hands-on activities, from roller coaster physics to bridge design and pollution prevention. Additionally, drawings will be held for five $100 mall gift certificates and five $10-$50 Barnes and Nobel gift certificates.

Janie Fouke, dean of Michigan State University's College of Engineering, will give the keynote address at 8:50 a.m. in the Mills Godwin Building Auditorium. Other activities and sessions will be held in MGB and Kaufman Hall throughout the day.
