TRADER PUBLISHING PRESIDENT TO SPEAK IN EXECUTIVE-IN-RESIDENCE SERIES MARCH 23

Conrad M. Hall, president and CEO of Trader Publishing Co., will be guest speaker for Old Dominion University's Landmark Executive-in-Residence Series Tuesday, March 23.

Sponsored by the College of Business and Public Administration, the series brings accomplished business leaders to campus to share firsthand experience with students. Hall will speak at 12:30 p.m. in room 1005 of Constant Hall. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

A native of Norfolk, Hall joined Landmark Communications in 1970 as a broadcaster on WTAR-TV and radio after having worked for the company as a summer intern in 1969. He joined the Landmark corporate staff in 1971 as financial analyst, was promoted to director of management information in 1973 and named treasurer in 1975.

In 1977 he joined The Virginian-Pilot and The Ledger-Star division of Landmark as vice president and business manager and later became vice president/circulation director. He then was appointed vice president for operations (circulation and production). In 1981 he rejoined the Landmark corporate staff as vice president/human resources and was named executive vice president and chief financial officer in 1985. He was active in acquisition and new-venture work, including the purchase of Landmark's first classified publication. In 1989 he was named president of the newly formed Landmark Target Media Inc.

Hall became president and chief executive officer of Trader Publishing in 1991. With a staff of 9,000, Trader Publishing operates out of 296 field offices in 171 cities nationwide and has 10 regional printing plants. The company produces 675 publications with a combined paid and free weekly circulation in excess of 7.5 million copies. The company also offers electronic information services to corporations and individuals.

Hall is active in the community and has served as a director of the Greater Norfolk Corporation, United Way of South Hampton Roads, the Old Dominion University Educational Foundation and the Virginia Maritime Heritage Foundation. He was also a member of the capital campaign committee of the Salvation Army. He currently serves as president of the Virginia Military Institute Foundation Inc. and he serves on the board of directors of the Children's Health Foundation of the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters and the Tidewater Scholarship Foundation. He was appointed to the Board of Visitors of Old Dominion University in July 2003.

Hall served as an artillery officer in the Army from 1966-68. He received his bachelor's degree in engineering from Virginia Military Institute and a master's of business administration from the Darden School of the University of Virginia.
