WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH EVENTS 'INSPIRE HOPE AND POSSIBILITY'

Old Dominion University celebrates National Women's History Month with a myriad of events reflecting the 2004 theme, "Women Inspiring Hope and Possibility." Throughout the month of March, the Women's Center and other groups at Old Dominion will sponsor musicians, speakers and a film festival.

A six-woman, world beat percussionist group, Beleza, comes to campus Tuesday, March 16, to perform "Drum Thunder That Moves Your Bones." Ruth Carter Stevens Wright, a 100-year-old daughter of a former slave and sharecropper will share her story in "Lessons from a Grandmother" Wednesday, March 17. Actress Miriam Reed will perform in the one-woman show "Margaret Sanger: Radiant Rebel" Wednesday, March 31.

"Women and the Arts"--Presented by Leslie Stewart, assistant professor of music. Cape Charles Room, Webb Center. Sponsored by Women's Caucus.

7-8:30 p.m.
"Margaret Sanger: Radiant Rebel"--Miriam Reed, Ph.D., actress and author of "Margaret Sanger: Her Life in Her Words," will perform in this one-woman show that recaptures the life of Margaret Sanger, through the use of published autobiographies, speeches and unpublished letters and diaries. Diehn Fine and Performing Arts Center. Cosponsored by the Multicultural Student Services and Office of Student Activities and Leadership, University Women's Caucus and Women's Studies.
