PRESIDENT EMERITUS OF EASTERN VIRGINIA MEDICAL SCHOOL SPEAKS TO ECONOMICS CLUB FEB. 25
President Emeritus of Eastern Virginia Medical School, Edward E. Brickell will speak at the Economics Club of Hampton Roads luncheon Wednesday, Feb. 25.
Co-sponsored by Old Dominion University's College of Business and Public Administration, the luncheon held at noon at the Sheraton Waterside Hotel in downtown Norfolk costs $30 for nonmembers. Due to limited space, reservations are required.
With more than 52 years of experience in education, Brickell's luncheon topic will be on "Derailment-the Bane of the Best and Brightest." He has conducted leadership, management and communications workshops and seminars for public schools, universities, and corporations as a consultant since 1969.
Brickell was president of Eastern Virginia Medical School from 1988-2000 and superintendent of Virginia Beach Public Schools from 1968-1987. He is president of the Virginia Beach Public Library Foundation and is on the board of directors and member of many Hampton Roads organizations including Future of Hampton Roads, Virginia Beach Foundation, Greater Norfolk Corporation, the College of William and Mary School of Education Foundation and the ODU School of Nursing Community Advisory Committee.
Brickell received his doctorate in education from the College of William and Mary, master's degree in English language and literature from the University of Chicago and bachelor's degree in English from the College of William and Mary. He was also awarded an honorary doctorate of humane letters from the College of William and Mary.
