MASTER CLASSES, CONCERT ARE FEB. 21

Old Dominion University and the Governor's School for the Arts will host a percussion drumming class with Simeon Darley-Chapin of the renowned Chris Norman Ensemble from noon-2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, in room 179 of the Diehn Fine and Performing Arts Center. Admission: $5.

The ensemble's guitarist Andy Thurston will conduct a free master class from noon-2 p.m. Saturday in room 136 of the Diehn Fine and Performing Arts Center.

Both master classes include a preview concert from 2:30-3:15 p.m. Saturday in the Chandler Recital Hall of the Diehn Center. Information: 422-5755.

Flutist Chris Norman and his ensemble mates also will participate in the 11th annual Flute Faire from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Diehn Center. Cost: $30 for the entire day, including admittance to all recitals, classes and exhibits. One parent admitted free with each student. Information: 683-5277.

The ensemble will perform at 8 p.m. Feb. 21 as part of the TCC Performing Arts Series at the Roper Performing Arts Center, 340 Granby Street, Norfolk, in collaboration with Hampton Roads Flute Faire and Tidewater Classical Guitar Society.

The Chris Norman Ensemble presents the listener with a diverse, high-energy program drawn from Chris Norman's imaginative repertoire. The ensemble's performances encompass traditional music of Scotland, Ireland, Canada as well as Celtic-inspired works from the renaissance and baroque
including Chris Norman's acclaimed original compositions.
