HILL RECEIVES HUMAN RIGHTS AWARDS

Irvine B. Hill of Norfolk, a 1949 graduate of ODU's Norfolk Division and a former member of the university Board of Visitors, received a Human Rights Award from the Virginia Beach Human Rights Commission and G. William Whitehurst Feb. 17 in recognition of his support for human rights and intergroup understanding in the community.

The award was presented during the commission's 10th annual Human Rights Program at the Virginia Beach Pavilion Convention Center. Hill is the retired vice president of public affairs for Cox Communications Hampton Roads. Whitehurst, a former U.S. congressman, is Kaufman Lecturer of Public Affairs at the university.
