EDGERTON COURSE ON HISTORY AND TELEVISION FEATURED IN THIS WEEK'S CHRONICLE OF HIGHER EDUCATION

Gary Edgerton, professor and chair of the Department of Communication and Theatre Arts at Old Dominion University, is featured in the February 27 issue of The Chronicle of Higher Education for his course "Television Histories as Collective Memory."

The course is highlighted in the "Syllabus" section of the weekly, which reviews various interesting college courses from around the country. In "Course Examines How TV Affects Perceptions of Reality," reporter Bethany Broida explains how Edgerton's class examines how television affects our perceptions of reality.

"Television tends to be the main centerpiece in our culture," Edgerton says in the article. "TV in a sense creates instant history ... that shapes how we think about an event."
