ECE SEMINAR IS FEB. 20

The Old Dominion University Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering graduate seminar series continues with a presentation by Li Tao and Rajkiran Gottumukkal titled "Lighting Invariant Face Detection and Tracking in Video Sequences" at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, in Kaufman Hall room 224.

Face detection in a video sequence is an important step in face recognition, face authentication and facial expression recognition. The task is especially difficult since the number, location, size and orientation of human faces may vary from frame to frame. The accuracy of detection may also be affected if the images are captured under non-uniform lighting conditions. Hence a two-step approach of image enhancement and face detection is used for lighting invariant detection of face regions in a video sequence.

For more information, call the department at 683-3741.
