KENNEDY ELECTED TO NATIONAL COUNCIL
Betsy S. Kennedy of the Recreation and Tourism Studies program in the Darden College of Education at Old Dominion University, has been elected to the Board of Directors for the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).
She will serve a three-year term beginning in April and will be one of three new board members. Ballots were sent in October to 20,000 certified recreation therapists. Kennedy will attend two NCTRC board meetings annually.
NCTRC is the organization that oversees the national certification of recreation therapists in the U.S. and Canada, establishing and evaluating standards for certification and recertification. The board of directors is comprised of nine members, including a consumer and an employer representative.
