FIELD HOCKEY FRESHMAN MAKES NATIONAL TEAM
Old Dominion freshman field hockey player Dana Sensenig recently was named to the USA Field Hockey 2004 Women's Under-21 Team following A-Camp team trials at the USA Field Hockey National Training Center in Virginia Beach.
The USA junior team will compete in various domestic and international events in 2004 including the USA Field Hockey Summer League, an international tour and regional training sessions for the U-21 team. The teams will also serve to prepare age-eligible athletes for next year's Pan American Junior Championships and the 2005 Junior World Cup.
The 20-member U.S. Under-21 squad features some of the top young talent from last year's NCAA Championship tournament.
Last season in her first year as a Lady Monarch , Sensenig helped Old Dominion to a 14-10 overall mark and a second-round appearance in the NCAA Tournament. In 19 appearances, she tallied five goals and one assist for 11 points and was the team's eighth leading scorer. Additionally, Sensenig was named to the Colonial Athletic Association's (CAA) All-Tournament Team as Old Dominion captured its eighth straight and 13th overall CAA title.
