ALUMNI GIFT TO ODU PRESENTED SATURDAY
Officers of the Old Dominion University Alumni Association will officially present a check for $420,000 to the university for the renovation of the former Public Safety Building as ODU's first Alumni Center prior to the tipoff of the men's basketball game against Hofstra at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Ted Constant Convocation Center.
The gift is the largest ever made to the university by the Alumni Association.
The presentation will be made to President Roseann Runte and John R. Broderick, vice president for institutional advancement and chief of staff, by Alumni Association President Boyd T. Allison Jr. Also presenting the check will be: Donna S. Morris, Alumni Center Committee chair; Frederick D. Facka, treasurer; Lauren L. Conner, vice president for alumni organizations; Kathryn M. Van Buren, past president; Joseph D. Badali, past president; and John M. Profilet, past treasurer.
The Alumni Center is scheduled to open in late February. It will include a suite of offices for the alumni relations staff and serve as a venue for various alumni events. It will also be a welcome center for alumni visiting their alma mater. Of Old Dominion's 90,000-plus graduates, more than 40,000 reside in Hampton Roads.
