ALLEN CONCLUDES FULBRIGHT GRANT
Thomas R. Allen, associate professor in the Department of Political Science and Geography, this month concludes a Fulbright grant that took him to the University of Turku in Finland.
Allen taught and researched "Teaching Geographic Tools for a Wireless World: A Comparative Analysis of Timberlines from North American and Fennoscandia" in Finland. His grant began in September. Allen's is the 25th Fulbright Award received by ODU faculty since 1992.
The purpose of the Fulbright Scholar Program is to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. The Senior Specialists Program, which was created to compliment the 55-year-old traditional Fulbright Scholar Program, aims increase the number of faculty and professionals who have the opportunity to go abroad on a Fulbright.
