WILLIAM PETERSON NAMED ASEM FELLOW

William R. Peterson, assistant professor of engineering management and systems engineering, was recently named an American Society of Engineering Management (ASEM) fellow. Peterson is only the thirty-fourth engineer to be so honored.

The ASEM is a professional organization dedicated to the science and art of engineering management. ASEM members transcend many engineering disciplines, supporting specialties, professional affiliations, and sectors of the engineering and technical community in industry, government, private practice, and education in strategic and important roles that advance engineering management.

Peterson, a past president of ASEM, received a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Auburn University in 1970, an MBA from Kearney State College (now the University of Nebraska, Kearney) in 1984, and a Ph.D. in industrial and systems engineering from The Ohio State University in 1995.

Prior to joining Old Dominion, Peterson served more than 16 years in a wide range of industrial positions. He also served on the faculty of Florida International University, the University of Minnesota Duluth, and Western Michigan University.
