SOCHA RECEIVES NCA HONOR
Tom Socha of Virginia Beach, associate professor of communication at Old Dominion University, recently received the 2003 Bernard J. Brommel Award for Outstanding Scholarship or Distinguished Service in Family Communication from the National Communication Association (NCA).
Socha was presented the award at the association's 89th annual convention Nov. 20-23 in Miami Beach.
The Brommel Award was created in 1996 and recognizes published research and creative scholarship in family communication. Socha was cited for his work for the NCA's family communication division. He developed and serves as the fouding editor of the "Journal of Family Communication" and has served as a family communication expert, representing this discipline in a variety of international, national, region and local forums.
