WORLD AIDS DAY OBSERVANCE IS DEC. 1-2

Old Dominion University's observance of World AIDS Day will be Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 1-2.

On Monday, Dec. 1, the nationally recognized World AIDS Day, the committee has invited HIV/AIDS education organizations from the community to be guests and provide education and resources for our students and staff from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Webb University Center. At 7 p.m. Monday, the committee presents a panel discussion on "Living With HIV" in the North Cafeteria.

An interactive and shocking drama which highlights the global impact of HIV/AIDS, titled, "The Faces of AIDS," will be at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, in the South and North malls of the Webb University Center.

The Student National Environmental Health Association will present the film "And the Band Played On" at 7 p.m. in room 102 of the Mills Godwin Jr. Life Sciences Building.

In light of the statistic that five people worldwide die of AIDS every minute of every day, the students and faculty of ODU formed a World AIDS Day committee to highlight the need for education, awareness and testing as a measure to help decrease the numbers in this global epidemic.
