'WILLOW SONG' PERFORMANCE TUESDAY IN B.A.L.
Old Dominion University will present the semester's final performance of "Willow Song: In Memoriam" at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, in room 104 of the Batten Arts and Letters Building.
Conceived and directed by Christopher Hanna, with text by Frankie Little Hardin, "Willow Song" will be presented free of charge, with seats available on a first-come basis.
In March 2002, the ODU Theatre Program lost one of its highly prized students. In memoriam, and in an effort to educate ourselves to the warning signals of relationships that have gone wrong, theatre students and faculty have collected interviews and memories from friends and loved ones, and from victims, counselors, police officers and perpetrators who experience the effects of abusive relationships from their own unique perspectives. These interviews are woven together with excerpts from Shakespeare's "Othello" to create "Willow Song" (Desdemona's song before her murder), a performance created both to commemorate a loved one and to caution her survivors.
