DISTINGUISHED ALUMNUS AND NOVASTAR FINANCIAL CEO TO SPEAK AT EXECUTIVE IN RESIDENCE SERIES

W. Lance Anderson, co-founder, president and chief operating officer of NovaStar Financial, will speak as part of Old Dominion University's 2003 Executive in Residence Series Tuesday, Nov. 11.

Sponsored by the College of Business and Public Administration, the series brings accomplished business leaders to campus to share firsthand experience with students. Anderson, a 1984 graduate of Old Dominion with a bachelor's degree in finance, will speak at 12:30 p.m. in room 1005 of Constant Hall. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Anderson received the ODU Distinguished Alumni Award during the annual Founders' Day dinner this October. At NovaStar where he has served on the Board of Director since 1996, he manages mortgage origination and servicing operations. Previously, he was executive vice president of Dynex Capital Inc., formerly Resource Mortgage Capital Inc., a New York Stock Exchange-listed real estate investment trust. In addition, Anderson was president and chief executive officer of Dynex' single-family mortgage operation, Saxon Mortgage. He also serves as chairman of the board of directors, president and chief executive officer of NovaStar Mortgage.
