CHINESE-AMERICAN FAMILY HEALTH FAIR DAY IS SATURDAY
A Chinese-American Family Health Fair Day, where community members can receive free health care information and screenings, will be held 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, in the Batten Arts and Letters Building lobby at Old Dominion University.
Free and open the public, the fair is being sponsored by Old Dominion's College of Health Sciences, Sentara Healthcare and Tidewater Chinese School.
Participants will receive health screenings such as blood pressure, cholesterol, dental disease and asthma, and free flu shots for adults. Additionally, health care providers and Old Dominion students will provide information on and assistance with child health insurance, nutrition and immunization, dental hygiene, preventive medicine and careers in nursing.
The fair will feature a translation help desk and the Norfolk Fire Department will be on hand to discuss fire safety. Refreshments will be served and drawings will be held for door prizes.
