ALLIANCE FOR VIRGINIA'S STUDENTS HOLDS TOWN MEETING TONIGHT AT CONVOCATION CENTER

The Alliance for Virginia Students is holding a town meeting to discuss public concerns and support of quality education throughout the Commonwealth Thursday, Nov. 13, at Old Dominion University.

The forum, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Ted Constant Convocation Center at 43rd Street and Hampton Boulevard.

Legislators and local elected officials were invited to hear their constituents and Deborah DiCroce, president of Tidewater Community College, will be the moderator for the evening. Following a panel discussion with representatives of higher education, students, parents, K-12 and the business community, members of the audience will have the opportunity to speak.

Speakers will be limited to two minutes each and the discussion will be printed and presented to government and school officials following the forum.

The Alliance, founded earlier this year by The Virginia First Cities Coalition, Virginia Education Coalition, Virginia Association of Counties and Virginia Business Higher Education Council, spearheaded an effort to have each candidate in the House and Senate elections sign a pledge in support of adequate funding in support of quality education. Of the candidates, 142 signed the pledge.
